2023 District / State Singles and Senior Singles

Another great day of bowls for the District Singles/ Senior Singles held at Kotara on Thursday 11 May.

Those who came to watch were treated to spectacular bowling by all players.

In the Senior Semi-finals event Robyn Bagnall – Alder Park played her first game against Julie Schumacher – Soldiers Point and both players played an excellent draw game and it could have gone either way but Robyn edged ahead winning 25-21.

The other match between Vacie McIntyre Soldiers Point and Suzanne Gunness Lemon Tree Passage was also a great game but unfortunately Suzanne was unable to match Vacie’s on game and the result was 25-9.

In the Finals Vacie had a strong lead but this did not deter Robyn’s determination and she fought back from being down 6-18 on the 13 end to claw her way back into contention over the next 15 ends to finish her campaign 4 shots behind Vacie McIntyre, the final score being 25-21. Well done Robyn, the spectators were in awe. Congratulations Vacie, who will now head off to Scone to contest the Regionals which will be held on Sunday 28th May 2023.

  • In the Singles Semi-finals event Natasha Van Eldik (Raymond Terrace) played Sharon Mc Reynolds (Raymond Terrace) and although Sharon had the shots in the head, Natasha was consistent with draw shots and continually took control. A boot on her lead leg didn’t deter her even though she was unable to demonstrate her fierce driving capabilities. Natasha won 25-12.

  • The other Semi-Finals between Robyn Beaumont – Tea Gardens and Leanne Kerby- Kotara was another great game. Robyn had a lead 11-4 on the 10 end then Leanne found her length and surged ahead to win 25-13. Again this was a terrific game to watch.

In the Finals Leanne played Natasha, this was a repeat of the 2020 finals between these two champions. Once more Natasha took control of the game and although Leanne led in with some great draw shots they didn’t stay there for long. Natasha’s determination saw her finish the victor 25-7. A great win for Natasha giving her all 4 disciplines at District level. A wonderful achievement and she will now head off to the Regionals at Scone.

A terrific week of bowling to end our Championships for 2022-2023.

Look forward to seeing as many as possible at Scone.
